Pen usb flash drives features how to update my bios

A BIOS is responsible for the communications between your operating system and your computer hardware. Without an updated BIOS, some of your hardware may not work correctly with your operating system. Flash drives are one of the many ways you can update your BIOS. You can use a flash drive of any capacity as long as the drive is completely empty of all non-BIOS-related files. The entire process of downloading and updating your BIOS takes 10-15 minutes.

Step 1

Insert a USB flash drive into an open USB slot on your computer. Remove any important files from the drive, because it must be formatted to be made into a boot drive.
Step 2

Download the HP Drive Key Boot Utility from the link listed in Resources and double click the file. This works with non-HP flash drives as well.
Step 3

Install the software package. Make sure you don't have any other external USB drives plugged into your computer to avoid accidentally formatting the wrong drive.
Step 4

Follow the on-screen instructions to format the USB drive and install the system files needed to make it bootable.
Step 5
Restart your computer and enter the BIOS (usually by pressing F2 or F10 on startup) to select boot options. Look for the USB Drive---sometimes also referred to as USB ZipDrive or USB HDD. Select and boot from this source.

Use USB Flash Drive in Vista

A USB Flash drive is essentially a portable hard drive. It connects to your USB port and can store information just like a hard disk can. The advantage to the flash drive over a normal hard drive is that it can be moved from computer to computer through the USB port. In Windows Vista, the USB drive can even act as a sort of RAM using Windows ReadyBoost. There are certain criteria that must be met for this to work efficiently.

•Step 1
Connect the USB flash drive to a USB port. Some USB flash drives will have the drivers installed locally on the USB device itself. Windows will have the drivers installed. In either case--when the USB device is added--the drivers will automatically run to set up your new device. This is a onetime run. It will not have to be done again after the initial install.

•Step 2
Walk through the driver installation process. The driver installation process may be fully automated, but--depending on the USB manufacturer--there may be some self explanatory prompts that need a user's attention. Typically, a Windows authorization window will appear, asking for permission to run the driver's program. Click "Okay" if you accept. The only other prompt that should appear, if any, is a prompt asking if you wish to reboot the computer now. Simply select yes or no. If you don't reboot the computer at this prompt, the flash drive will not be usable.

•Step 3
Log off or restart the computer.

•Step 4
Transfer wanted files to the USB flash drive. This can be music, video, documents, or whatever you want, as long as it does not exceed the drive size. Once the information is on the flash drive, you can remove the flash drive and take it to another computer.

•Step 5
Disable the hardware device. Once the information is on the flash drive, you can remove the flash drive and take it to another computer. Before you do this, be sure to go down to your task bar in the lower right hand corner. Place your mouse pointer over the icons. Find the one that says "Safely Remove Hardware." Choose this and disable the flash drive before removing it. This is to help ensure you do not lose any data you have stored on the flash drive.

•Step 6
Connect the USB device to any USB 2.0 port, and you can transfer the files from the Flash drive to the computer. If you wish, you can just use the

How to Use a USB Drive in DOS

Windows XP and Windows Vista do not offer DOS to USB support. Operating systems before that, however, have tricks to get USB's working. To make this happen the user must download a USB driver. This can be found at the end of this article for the required ZIP file needed. After a little bit of editing to the autoexec.bat and config.sys files, you'll be up and running

Step 1
Download the required USB driver from the link at the bottom of this page. Install the driver onto you're OEM boot disk. Run the driver exe that you have downloaded. It will load the required drivers for you.

Step 2
Restart the computer. Press F8 as soon as you see the Windows logo to get to the boot menu. At the boot menu select "MSDOS Command prompt."

Step 3
Insert the OEM boot disk.

Step 4
Open the config.sys file from DOS. From the DOS prompt simply type "Edit a:\config.sys" without the quotes. The config.sys file will open allowing edits to be made. This config.sys is on the a:\ drive. We are altering the OEM boot disk, not the computer.

Step 5
Add the following lines to config.sys:
Device =a:\himem.sys
Devicehigh= a:\emm386.exe
Device=a: \usbaspi.sys
Dos=high,umb

Step 6
Save config.sys.

Step 7
Open the autoexec.bat file from DOS. From the DOS prompt simply type "Edit a:\autoexec.bat" without the quotes. The autoexec.bat file will open allowing edits to be made. This autoexec.bat is on the a:\ drive. We are altering the OEM boot disk, not the computer.

Step 8
Add the following lines to autoexec.bat:
@echo off
Duseldr a:\duse.exe
Mscdex /D:usbcdrom /s /m:15 /v

The last line is actually for your cdrom device. This method is to allow all USB devices to work from DOS, not just the USB drive.

Step 9

Save autoexex.bat

Step 10
Restart the computer. The computer will boot off of the disk and you will have USB support.

How to Clear a USB Flash Drive

USB drives are easy and convenient ways to transfer files from computer to computer, but when they are full or the files are no longer needed, you may want to clear everything off the drive. There are 2 methods for clearing data off of a USB flash drive and they can both be performed quickly the next time you need an empty drive.

Manual

Step 1
Insert your drive into a USB port. Wait for the computer to read the drive and load the content. Open up "My Computer" through the Windows menu. Look for the drive listing and double-click on it so a new window opens up.
Step 2
Click on "Tools" followed by "Folder Options." A new menu will pop-up over the window.
Step 3
Click on the "View" tab and look for the "Hidden Files" option. Click the circle that says "Show Hidden Files and Folders." Press "Ok" and the box should disappear.
Step 4
Click your mouse and drag it so that it highlights all of the files in the window. Press the "Delete" button and wait until everything clears off of the jump drive.

Step 5

Check the recycling bin and clear anything that may have gone there. Remove the jump drive and reinsert to make sure everything has been deleted

Auto-Format

Step 1
Insert your jump drive into a USB port. Once the content has loaded, open up "My Computer" through the Windows menu.
Step 2
Find the USB flash drive and right click on it. Click on the menu option that says "Format..." and wait for a new window to load.
Step 3
Choose the check box that says "Quick Format" if you want a full erase of the flash drive. Leave that box unchecked if you want it to go through and thoroughly clear the drive's contents.
Step 4

Press the "Start" button to begin the formatting. A progress bar will showcase how much has been formatted already. A pop-up message will show up when the formatting has completed.
Step 5
Remove the card and place it back into the computer to be sure that everything has cleared. The card should be cleared and ready for complete use.

Custom Flash Drives Protection

Sneakernet-borne viruses seemed like a thing of the past until we started having Conficker outbreaks. There has been other malware that targeted USB storage devices before Conficker, but for some reason none had been as effective at spreading...something that's likely attributable to the multipronged attack capability.

Dealing with Conficker infections on USB flash drives became quite a pain for organizations of all sizes last year. I wrote about a few methods to help stop the spread of malware via USB flash drives back in February (see "Fight Malware With Software Restriction Policies"). Even with those safety measures in place, it didn't prevent USB flash drives from getting infected when they were used at a local print shop, stuck into a hotel kiosk, or used in some other poorly managed computer system.

custom flash drives
It's amusing to see the faces of attendees in my Cyber Self Defense class when I start telling them about the insecurities around USB flash drives and the use of pay-by-the-minute Internet kiosks at hotels. The majority of them have never thought about the possibility that a virus could spread by one of those handy little "memory sticks" they carry around with them. Those who had thought about it did so only because they'd been victims in the past.

And Internet kiosks...forget about it. They don't like being told not to use their company e-mail from those things because who knows what keylogger or malware has been installed on it. We'll save that discussion for another day.

the bestseller more amazing about custom flash drive

Credit card usb flash drive is the thinnest Flash Memory Cards in the world at just 1.8mm thickness. Both sides of the USB Card can be completely photo printed in full vibrant colour. The large brandable area will ensure your logo is highly prominent - most companies prefer to submit a complete design to cover the entire USB card rather than a standalone logo. USB cards slip neatly into your pocket, wallet or organiser and take up little space.

So, why is this the case?

In other blog posts I've talked about the difference between good and bad suppliers. There are companies out there using dodgy controller chips, hacked memory and recycled chips. While we can't verify for certain that the rivals we tested don't take part in these practices, this probably wasn't the case in this situation. It was a simple case of "acceptable" quality against high quality.

Flash memory is available, from the major suppliers (such as Sony) in both "A" and "B" grade. The B grade memory is perfectly good memory that failed to meet certain standards with regards to speed, reliability and performance. However, it was deemed "acceptable" for certain uses, therefore didn't end up in the bin with really bad chips. This B grade memory is then put into promotional USB drives in order to cut costs. After all, they are being given away free, right? I'm sure your customers won't blame you if they end up slow, unresponsive and ultimately unreliable in comparison? Will they? I mean, they were free, after all?

At The USB Superstore, we'd rather not take that risk. We believe in only using the highest quality memory, paired with the highest quality controller chips, put together in the highest quality factories, complete with the highest quality finish. The result of that is plain to see; Faster chips, far lower failure rates, and lots of very satisfied customers,also it very convenient for you to take .then we saw the description of performance parameters in detail:
